Fayetteville-Manlius High School is hosting an author visit on Tuesday, April 21st with local poet Jessica Cuello, who will do a poetry reading and lead two writing workshops for students and staff.
Jessica Cuello is a French teacher, a poetry editor at the Tahoma Literary Review, and a poet based in Central New York. She has written various poetry books, including “Yours, Creature,” “Liar,” and “Hunt.” She has won numerous awards for her works, such as the Barrow Street Book Prize, The Nina Riggs Poetry Prize, The New Letters Poetry Prize, two CNY book awards, and much more.
FM High School will host a poetry reading optional assembly during 5th period in room 1209, where Cuello will read a selection of her poems. There will also be two writing workshops. One will take place from 2nd to 3rd period, and the other from 6th to 7th period. Students will be able to bring in their own poetry to work on with Cuello during these workshops. Throughout Jessica Cuello’s event, snacks will be provided.
FMHS faculty were able to RSVP for the options assembly on March 23rd. English teachers were able to reserve the space early on. Students who want to go to the workshops have to get recommended by an English teacher due to the maximum of 30 students per workshop.
