Just about every high school student when asked would say, “I’m not addicted to my phone.” However this seems far from the truth, when the phone ban was announced many students and parents were upset.
Parents were concerned that they would not be able to reach their children if an emergency happened during the school day. Students seem to be equally concerned about safety but also feel that taking away phones would harm them academically since many students used phones for research and taking notes.
When asked why he did not support the phone ban at his child’s school Bert Rowe, a healer said, “Don’t make my child choose between a quality education and top-tier content.”
Despite the ban many students still find ways to sneak on their phones throughout the day. But good news for these students:Kathy Hocul might be reversing the bell to bell phone ban in schools across New York, after alarming news came out about how much students need their phones.
According to the Onion, a local woman “died at a local Starbucks Monday afternoon, due to complications resulting from the tragic loss of her cell phone.” Due to this alarming news many staff members, students, and parents are lobbying Governor Hocal to reverse her phone ban and it might be working.
According to governor.ny.gov they are about “ensuring safe and productive learning environments for students and educators” and this might mean allowing cellular devices back into schools.
Happy April Fools’ Day, FMHS!
