You may hear about The Buzz all the time but wonder, what’s all this “buzz” about? Well to answer the question, The Buzz is FM’s award-winning, student-run news publication.
For the person who says “Well, I can’t stand writing,” you might be surprised at how much fun you would have writing for the publication. Journalism creation is a total 360 from the typical writing you would do in an English class. Instead of being handed an assignment sheet that makes your head spin, one of the key journalism skills is being able to write about anything happening in our daily lives.

If the only thing stopping you from joining is being worried about not being good at writing, please reconsider! Journalism can be anything from creative features to hard news to opinion pieces to club and sports profiles. Come with what you have, and our supportive group of writers will happily teach you how to make what you know into a polished article.
We’re also always looking for people to help us with the visual aspect of production. This year one of the new roles will be a Design Editor, whose job will be to assist with the layout aspects of both the website and print edition.
Finding the best staff to fit the club’s needs and to produce the best publication possible is the goal. If you have any interest in joining us next year please check out the descriptions of the various staff roles and then fill out the application form. You can contact Editor in Chief Ethan Wong ([email protected]) or club adviser Mr. DeForest ([email protected]) should you have any questions. Having a variety of diverse writers always produces the best paper, and we would love to have you as part of our team!
