Do you dream of watching some of the best players in the world play soccer (or football depending on where you’re from), but can’t travel far to see them? Well, there’s good news coming your way as the 2026 FIFA World Cup features 16 host cities throughout three North American countries, allowing fans from all over the continent to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
There are several cities throughout the United States that will be hosting, including some within driving distance from Central New York such as Toronto (Canada), New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Boston. This will be the first time that the World Cup will be hosted by three countries (United States, Canada, and Mexico). The tournament will run from June 11 to July 19, 2026, with the final taking place on July 19th in New Jersey.
The variety of cities hosting means that fans from all over North America will be able to watch a match in their own time zones and have many opportunities to locally attend a game in person. The final round of qualifying will not conclude until March 31, 2026, less than three months before the start of the World Cup. As of November 2025, 28 teams have qualified with 20 more spots still open.
For those of you hoping to watch the excitement unfold from the comfort of your house, the majority of broadcasting will take place on Fox Sports. Fox Sports will air 69 matches and the other 35 will be on FS1.
Whatever team you are rooting for, the 2026 FIFA World Cup is sure to be full of excitement and triumph. Go Team USA!
