The Halloween candy debate
As Halloween has come and gone, we circle back to the age-old debate: Which Halloween candy reigns superior? Well, we interviewed 100 FM students about their favorite Halloween candies, and fair warning— the results are quite controversial. It’s best to sit down before you continue.
We start off with the fan favorite, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! 19% of students argued that these nut allergy offenders were their first pick. If you do the math, this would mean that 81% of students have a peanut allergy (or just poor taste).
Our runner up? Kit Kats (but not the white chocolate ones). 15% of students opted for this wafery treat as their undisputed Halloween favorite, or, in other terms, the ones they steal from the bowl when handing out candy to trick-or-treaters.
Twix bars came in 3rd with 9% of the vote, which is understandable considering the polarizing caramel debate. Or maybe 91% of students have dentists for parents.
At the bottom of the list, the candies that you force your sibling to trade you for, were Snickers, M&M’s, Airheads, Milky Ways, Three Musketeers, Swedish Fish, and Nerds. Students seemed to agree that these were the candies that stay in the back of their closet until the next Halloween, when their parents tell them they have run out of candy and need something to give to the kids on the porch.
Now seems like a perfect time for the disclaimer: please take everything stated with a hint of sarcasm…and Happy Halloween!
