FM girls volleyball player Kaylene Noble sets herself up for a spike!

The Fayetteville-Manlius girls volleyball team continued their winning season Tuesday night in a 3-0 win over West Genesee. The Hornets were celebrating their illustrious 9-player senior class on their senior night, where they beat the Wildcats 25-15 in the first set, 25-23 in the second set, and 25-22 in the third set.

FM’s dynamic offense was orchestrated by veteran setter Zoe Myint, whose quick-paced decision making and ability to use her array of hitters led her to 34 assists. Leading in kills was senior outside hitter Kaylene Noble who swung for a total of 14 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Kalyna Dannenberg wasn’t far behind, making 10 kills.

Defensively, senior libero Oksana Dannenberg led with 16 digs against a competitive West Genesee offense that tends to evenly spread the ball across the front of the court. The Wildcats offense was led by junior Cami Zajac who had 7 kills, but ultimately Danenberg’s ability to read and react to the ball, and senior middle Hannah Williamson’s four blocks kept the Hornets ahead.

Fayetteville-Manlius now improves their record to 11-2 ahead of away matches at Liverpool and Corcoran to finish the regular season. The Hornets are slated for a successful postseason run as their regular season concludes over the next couple of weeks, hoping to make a NYSPHSAA Regionals run, as they will act as a host-site of the regional championships in early November.
