With the 2021-2022 school year wrapping up, people are pulling out their swimsuits and sunscreen and gearing up for a summer of fun! Here are a few activities to fill your weekends up so you can get a nice tan and create lasting memories.

 

  1. Swimming at Cazenovia opens up right after Memorial Day. The water is clean and fresh. The lake also welcomes everyone to participate in water activities like boating, fishing and of course swimming.

 

  1. Mill Run Park in Manlius has really nice trails with some amazing views. It also offers a nice park and a large creek that is great for cooling off during those hot summer days.

 

  1. Green Lakes golfing is now open and the lake opens up June 27th. Only 8 dollars is needed to go swimming for a day at Green Lakes. Season passes are also available. The golf course offers various tournaments throughout the summer.

 

  1. The Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse New York is open all year round but visiting during the summer is the best idea. They have many different animals as well as interactive stations for kids and even adults.

 

  1. Onondaga Lake Park has a mile-long walkway and a brand new park for kids! They also offer bike, roller skate, and scooter rentals for everyone. It’s free to walk around and is a wonderful change of scenery.  

 

  1. Clark Reservation has so many different trails and a gorgeous lake view. Everyone is free to bring a kayak or canoe and enjoy the beautiful lake.

 

  1. Dr. E.M. Mills Rose Garden has over 3,000 rose bushes! Many of them begin to bloom in June as well. While you can’t pick the flowers, you can smell them and admire their beauty.

 

  1. Thornden Park has four tennis courts, three basketball courts, a park for kids, and an incredible amphitheater. They also offer walking trails that lead into the rose garden.

 

  1. The CNY Regional Market is open on weekends and has over 50 different vendors. Purchasing items is a great way to support local farmers and small businesses. Along with the fresh fruits and vegetables, you can find all sorts of trinkets and knick knacks. 

 

  1. The New York State Fair is open from August 20th to September 6th. They have countless rides, vendors, and food stands. There’s always live animal shows and entertainment. You can win prizes, get your face painted, and even get your caricature drawn.
