This year, the art wing at FMHS established a pumpkin design contest which featured four categories: Funniest, Scariest, Most Ornately Carved, and FM Pride. They were featured in the art wing’s shelves, presented to students as they walked through the hallway. Pumpkins were brought in by October 31st, and we were not disappointed by the results! Guest judges picked out which pumpkins won each category.
The winner of the Funniest category was Vanessa Gaffney, who dressed and colored a pumpkin as a witch, hence the title “Witch.”
The winners of the Scariest category were Waaana Ahmed and Skylar Brenner, who co-created “The Night Before Halloween.”

The winner for the Most Ornately Carved was Ayoub Doumbia with “The Tangerine Eater.”

The winner of the FM Pride category was Nicolas Dietrich Chavez, who created “Baseball-Head.”

An Honorable Mention in the Pumpkin Design Contest was Luna Lee who painted two small pumpkins, “Dotted Pumpkins.”

The pumpkins that were designed were incredibly creative and we can’t wait for next year’s contest to see what other artists will create!
