Students of Fayetteville-Manlius High School celebrated their junior prom on a Saturday evening at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse. The “Starry Night in the City” theme created a memorable atmosphere for everyone.
There was much excitement leading up to the event including students busy shopping for outfits, buying tickets, and planning promposals. Tickets, sold in the foyer during ninth period, saw a $5 price increase weekly starting from $35 and ending at $50, emphasizing the importance of early purchasing.
On prom night, the DJ kept the dance floor lively, playing a mix of hits that had students dancing all night. “The music was great,” said Benny Liu. “Everyone was on the dance floor having a great time.”
The dance floor at Drumlins Country Club was transformed into a dazzling atmosphere with mesmerizing lights, adding to the enchantment of the evening. The overall decorations, though minimal, contributed to the magical atmosphere, creating a memorable backdrop for students to enjoy. Despite the warm venue, the combination of lights and decorations made the junior prom a night to remember.
In addition to dancing, students enjoyed a variety of snacks, desserts, and drinks. “The treats were delicious and the perfect addition to the evening,” said Shreya Bhattacharya.
Students arrived at the venue dressed in their finest attire, with many taking advantage of the picturesque spots for capturing memories. “The night felt special even through the heat,” added Devin Hack.
The venue, though beautifully chosen, was notably hot, however that didn’t deter the students from enjoying their night. “It was warm, but it didn’t stop us from having a great time,” said Alex Thomas. “The music was fantastic and everyone was on the dance floor all night.”
While there was no official prom king or queen, several students stood out with their impressive dance moves, becoming the stars of the evening. The joy among classmates was evident as they celebrated together under the starry theme.
Principal Durkee reminded students to enjoy themselves safely as they left the event with smiles, holding onto the memories of a magical night.
Mrs. DeBlois, the student council advisor, expressed her excitement, stating, “We were thrilled with the fantastic turnout! It was clear that everyone was enjoying themselves. We look forward to organizing more events for our F-M students in the future!”
