On Saturday, December 2nd starting at 2pm ET, the world of Fortnite unleashed one of the most anticipated live events in the games history, titled The Big Bang. Not only did the long hiatus of live events and the return to the OG map contribute to the mass hype around the event, the scheduled appearance of Grammy-Award winning rapper Eminem added an extra layer to the excitement! Despite the long queues for the 2pm show, I was able to witness the event at its later time of 11pm. I want to mention how amazing the event was and how mind blowing it was to see the other aspects of it.
At the start of the event a rocket crashed into the OG map causing a black hole, sending everyone down a rabbit hole of different worlds. The first world you saw was a collaboration with Lego that showed off a new map, characters, and game mechanics for a new survival based gamemode coming to the game on December 7th. This first destination was completely out of left field and left me with such excitement because this could mean Lego x Fortnite sets in the future.
The next world you were transported to was a racing world that featured cars from the game Rocket League. This world showed off yet another gamemode coming to Fortnite which is a racing mode for all the high-octane people in the world. Although I was not as impressed with this world compared to the first, it was still interesting and left you with anticipation for the next world.
The 3rd and final world you visited was the Eminem concert. At the start Eminem began to sing Lose Yourself as you played a rhythm game to match the beat of the song. Halfway through his song a giant version of Eminem came crashing down and started rapping Godzilla (one of his most popular songs). Although Eminem was in the event for a short time, just seeing this iconic rapper in the world in one of the most popular games ever was mind boggling and awesome.
Unfortunately, after Eminem, the event came to an end. The Fortnite servers shut down to make way for Chapter 5 and the new season. I have been able to play a few games of the new chapter and I tell you, this may be one of the best seasons ever! They added weapon attachments to buff up your guns, new movement abilities and items to make the game feel brand new. However those are just a few of the great things this season has brought. The new Peter Griffin skin is also a main contribution. The skin alone is really cool and it amazes me because I have played Fortnite since the beginning, so I love to see how far the game has gone.
Although the event has ended, I highly recommend watching it online and playing the new chapter for yourself because my words are barely enough to express how amazing the game has become. Fortnite has truly become one of the best games of all time, and it will keep getting better with the in-game Weeknd concert, and all the new game modes.
