Pro-Sports Predictions(NFL week 5 and MLB NL Wild Card)

MLB: One of two games for the National League Wild Card is the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals have had a historical year all because of one man, Albert Pujols. As of right now he has 703 career HR. Only three other people have achieved as high as 700 HR, some with “help,” some with raw strength. This season his batting average is a .269 which is great for a guy his age, but he’s the DH this year and if the Phillies have a good pitching lineup for the Wild Card games, then his explosiveness at the plate might not show up that often. Flying over to Philadelphia, the Phillies also have an ace for their DH, Bryce Harper. He was out for part of the season with an injury, but when he came back he came in with a big BANG. With a .287 batting average and 18 HR this season, I bet he’ll be a powerhouse in the postseason. I mean this guy has two MVPs and isn’t even 30 years old, that’s insane. Alright I’ll stop raving about Bryce Harper now and get to my prediction. Even with the milestone Pujols has hit this year, I feel like something is in the water that the Philadelphia sports teams are drinking; that’s why I predict that the Philadelphia Phillies will win the Wild Card.

NFL: Switching gears to the NFL, I really want to talk about the Dolphins and Jets, both are two good teams but one is rising while the other is sinking. Joe Flacco definitely surprised me when it came to his performance in week 5.  Now I’m not saying he’s on the same level as Tom Brady, but for how long he was out of the relevance pool, he’s definitely shed some light in his skills. Having 901 passing yards and 5 TD in week four against the Steelers, this old timer definitely did not let his football skills get away from him. I am more of a Steelers fan but it is good to see someone like him still have some gas left in the tank. The main reason why I wanted to talk about this week five matchup is because of the Dolphins starting QB. With Tua, you can’t have him visibly stumble on live TV and let him start the next game. I’m glad he’s okay, but I don’t know if he is going to be in the rest of the season, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out for the rest of the year. As of right now, the Dolphins starting QB is Teddy Bridgewater. Like Flacco, that’s a name I have not heard in a while. Bridgewater is probably warming up right now but with his 193 passing yards and 1 TD in week 4, I don’t think the Miami Dolphins and fans should rely on him as a QB that will get them to the playoffs this year. For week 5, I predict the New York Jets(although not in New York) will beat the Miami Dolphins.
