Labrador Hollows is one of the beautiful fall places in Central New York.

The fall season we’ve been waiting for is finally here, meaning it’s time to break out the fuzzy socks and mittens! When you think of fall traditions, the first things that come to mind probably include apple picking at Beak and Skiff, getting completely lost in the corn maze at Critz Farms, and trick or treating until your feet hurt. If you’re looking for a bit of a change this year, here is a list of some of the best fall activities available in New York.

  1. Peek’n Peak’s Resort’s Fall Festival. Peek’n Peak’s Fall Festival is slightly out of the way, but still a great idea for a long weekend. Described by many on TripAdvisor as “abuzz with life” and “one of the best days of my life”, this two weekend long fall festival including a farmers market, pumpkin cannon, pony rides, and more, is sure to be fun for the whole family.
  2. Springside Farm, located in Pompey New York. Springside Farm is a local family owned and operated farm with not only pumpkin and gourd picking available, but jump pads, ziplines, pedal cars, mazes, wagon rides, a petting zoo, and even human foosball. In November, they will be having a Christmas Night Market with holiday themed foods and beverages. Springside farms is the perfect place to have some fall fun with family and friends.
  3. This may not seem as fun as my other picks for this list, but fall is a great time for college visits. In November, universities like Le Moyne, Cazenovia College, and Syracuse University, will be having their fall open houses. Now is the perfect time to take a look! I mean, who wants to be looking at schools in the freezing cold?
  4. Last but not least,a fall foliage cruise. Fall foliage cruises allow you to take in the beautiful fall scenery from foot, bike, boat, or bus. There are many different routes you can choose from, including the Hudson River Afternoon cruise, the Grand Palisades Yacht tour, and the day trip to Bear Mountain. These cruises are all offered along the Hudson River. A fall foliage cruise is perfect for artists and photographers looking to draw and take photographs of the changing leaves, or anyone who is simply looking to enjoy the beautiful scenery New York State has to offer in autumn.

New York State has so much to offer during the fall season. Whether you prefer thrilling haunted houses, or sticking close to home with local apple orchards, you can almost certainly find something fun and exciting to do here. Now, put down your phone and go have some fall fun!
